Hire Controller – Apprenticeship – Level 2

Working for an independent Plant & Tool Hire company, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Team at the Aylesbury site. You will be working as a Hire Controller, reporting to the Hire Desk Manager and completing a 12 -15 Month Apprenticeship on-site.

This Apprenticeship program is designed for colleagues new to the Tool Hire side of the business. As well as understanding more about the products & the service & maintenance of them, you will also learn how to provide excellent customer service.

This is a full time, permanent position and is available with an immediate start.

Skills you will learn:

  • Process orders and on-hire/ off-hires, ensuring all legal health & safety requirement are met.
  • Complete contract documentation for on-hire & off-hires.
  • Follow company processes in relation to hire insurance & hire equipment damage, theft, loss & damage.
  • Cross-hire equipment according to company procedures. 
  • Convey transport requirements including locations, delivery times & potential restrictions to drivers.
  • Organize the replacement & recovery of defective equipment.
  • Process damage agreement & notification documentation.
  • Explain to customers the specification of the equipment to be hired, ensuring they understand the health, safety & environmental impacts & operational requirements & procedures.
  • For plant supplied with an operator, ensure all licenses are current & valid for the operation & liaise with the contractor to provide such evidence.

  • Explain hire terms, conditions & rates.
  • Provide, explain & process hire rates & associated transactions eg. daily rate, insurance excess, damage & cleaning charges.
  • Use company IT, technology & systems.
  • Comply with company data protection policies & processes.
  • Action customer queries & concerns in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications & Key Skills required:

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 1)
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 1)
